Sing choirs of angels!
Exult, all creation around God's throne!
Jesus Christ, our King, is risen!
Sound the trumpet of salvation!
Rejoice O earth in shining splendour,
radiant in the brightness of your King!
Christ has conquered! Glory fills you!
Darkness vanishes for ever!
Rejoice, O Mother Church, Exult in glory!
The risen Saviour shines upon you!
Let this place resound with joy,
echoing the mighty song of all God's people...
If you are not familiar with this very, very ancient chant, you may enjoy this version, with a slightly different English translation...
Happy Easter Caite!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
ReplyDeleteFor the first time ever, I heard The Passion sung on Good Friday, which was amazing. We celebrated Easter this morning at the sunrise mass at 6am, with increasingly lightening sky and the birds awakening. Our priest's message was no matter our troubles, we should always remember that Jesus is alive! It brought tears to my eyes! Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a sunrise Mass but since I worked through last night, I went to the earliest we have, at 8 am.
ReplyDeleteBut I must say, I love the Easter Vigil Mass. Always after dark. all the lights and candles extinguished in the church, making the fire, blessing the huge Easter candle from which everyone in the church lights their own candle...then the Exsultet is sung by the deacon. All the vigil readings, still with just the candle light until the great Gloria is sung, all the lights turned on, all the candle on the altar lit..
it is very dramatic and beautiful. long, dramatic and beautiful.
I hope you had a wonderful Easter.
ReplyDeletehappy easter for everyone
ReplyDeletemay Jesus bless you all
amen
