Yes folks, it is that time of year again, when the Academy of Motion Pictures announces their nominations for the best picture of the year and they are ((drumrole...))
Best Motion Picture of the Year
-"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"
-"Frost/Nixon"
-"Milk"
-"The Reader"
-"Slumdog Millionaire"
But that is not all my dear readers. No, indeed! Because here are this year's anti-Oscars, the Golden Raspberry Awards, which celebrate the worst on film this year. No drumroll needed this time I think.
Worst Picture of the Year
-"Disaster Movie" and "Meet the Spartans" The same director directed both the same screenwriter wrote both, so they seem to put them together
-"The Happening"
-"The Hottie & the Nottie"
-"In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale"
-"The Love Guru"
Does it say something that I have seen NONE of them. Not the best and not the worse. Perhaps that I read too much. And that the new season of Lost has just begun. But I do plan to see Slumdog...someday.
I haven't seen any of these either. And I'll probably only see The curious case of benjamin button, and then only because I want to see how it compares to The confessions of Max Tivoli by Andrew Sean Greer.
ReplyDeleteI have issues with Brad...
ReplyDeleteand I didn't even like the commercial, a bad sign.
As usual, I am out of it. I've only seen one of those movies. I would like to see The Reader, though.
ReplyDeleteHow pathetic is it that I have seen zero of the movies listed (good or bad). *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI really need to get better child care so I can get out to see a movie now and again!
I am glad to know I am in such good pathetic company.
ReplyDeleteI just don't go to see many movies anymore...and I have no kids to use as an excuse.
I don't think I've ever seen the nomination list for the Golden Raspberry Award ahead of time--thanks so much for sharing that!
ReplyDeleteI have seen two of the Best Picture nominations and can see why they were nominated: The Reader and Milk. Hopefully I can add a third one soon.
I really need to get our more.
ReplyDeleteI would be interested in someone's opinion on 'The Reader', book vs. movie.
'Milk' is not really my cuppa tea...although I do actually like milk in my tea...
I went to see Slumdog Millionare. Didn't know anything about it. I loved this movie!! It was a great surprise. I am not going to say much because I am going to post on my blog.
ReplyDeletewell, then I guess that I have to go over there and read it then!
