Wordless Wednesday...Water and Waterlilies

Longwood Gardens is known for its fountains and water features..and in the summer, it waterlilies, some of which only bloom after dark.

  2. Interesting that some lilies bloom after dark. They are so pretty, I especially like the pink. We have light yellow ones floating in the pond my son created.

    1. I wiki'd it.."Water lilies are divided into two main categories: hardy and tropical. Hardy water lilies bloom only during the day, but tropical water lilies can bloom either during the day or at night, and are the only group to contain blue-flowered plants."

  15. We visited a few summers ago and loved it! So much to see, we couldn't possibly get it all in one day. I'd especially love to go back in a different season :)

    1. Every season offers something different! Love to visit at Christmas...or the bulbs in spring...or the fountains in summer...the trees in fall..the conservatory is always great...

  16. Gorgeous! I went to Longwood Gardens for the first time this spring and am hoping to get a yearly pass in the winter so I can go more often next year.
