Musing Monday...The Hurricane Sandy Edition

Let's check out this weeks Musing Monday question, as always, from the desk of MizB at Should Be Reading...

This week’s musing asks… Do you have people online that you often discuss the books you read with? Not just book groups, but individual readers who share the same taste in books? If so, what do you like best about this? If not, do you wish you did?

Well, my answer to this one is short and sweet.

Do I wish I did?

You know, there are so many books to read, once I write a review I tend to just move on to the next. I do sometimes think it would be fun to belong to a book club. But that is pretty much about the possible snacks. :-)
I must admit the only person I discuss books with it my sister-in-law. We share similar tastes in what we read and although she never comments on my reviews, she does read them and often reads the books herself afterwards, based on the reviews.

On an aside, did you miss me last week?
I was on vacation for the last two weeks in Italy and while I intended to get online and post a Musing Monday, somehow I got distracted! Imagine that!

But I am safely home now, just in time to miss the airport closings Hurricane Sandy is bringing to the East Coast and just in time to deal with a wee case of food poisoning (thank you US Airways) that totally took me out of commission yesterday.
Would anyone like to stop over at my house and unpack my suitcases and do some laundry??
Hurry, while I still have power.

  1. I'm glad you're back safe and sound and hope you weather the storm with no problems. (We call that airline US scAir around here.)

  2. Sounds like you got back in the nick of time. We call them Useless Air. I'd never fly with them again in this lifetime, nor would our daughter. Yes, I did miss you but looking forward to Wordless Wednesday to see all your gorgeous photos. You have a few, right?

  3. Glad you are back, you were missed. I hope the storm isn't as bad are the weather channel is forecasting it to be. I guess until it is over what is that saying...Button down the hatches, or something like that. Stay safe.

  4. Hope all you folks in area where storm will hit come out safe and minor damages, from a Texan that has been through many hurricanes.

  5. Hope you all stay safe from the storm! And unpacking is my least favorite thing about traveling (along with possible food poisoning!).

That is probably why I haven't really traveled anywhere for about three years!

  6. Good Lord, what a thing to come home to. I sure hope you stay safe and dry and keep your power. We down here in Florida do understand about these things. Anyway, as far as having people to talk to about books, I've got quite a few at hand. Once people find out how much I read and that I review books online, they are always wanting to talk and get recommendations. Book clubs? I'm sort of feeling negative about them, although I do still have one that has survived. It would be great if all you did was get together, eat and drink and talk books. But you get personalities in there that have to control everything, OR you get a group that just can't even meet because of schedules. It is frustrating.

    1. That is the trouble with groups...the people! Lol

  7. Stay safe during the storm! I'm doing the same thing on Long Island. The winds are getting stronger.

    Take care!

  8. Stay safe in the storm, hope it does not hit to hard.
Hope you had a great time in Italy and you are forgiven for not posting ;)

  9. you're right there in the path of Sandy's landfall .. i hope you have lots of flashlights and cat food. ..

  10. Fat Giant Kitty and I are right at the landfall zone....but fear not, Larry will not starve.

  11. I hope you don't get too badly affected by Sandy. We are watching from the other side of the world and worrying for you all. Take care.

  12. Food poisoning AND the storm of the century? Gah!

Just stopped by to see how you were holding up, I hope Sandy doesn't hammer you too badly.

  13. I was wondering if you were going to make it back before the storm … or have to stay in lovely Italy! Can't wait to see your photos. Boo on food poisoning.

please speak up, I LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!!
