It is so strange to see snow in what appears to be a summertime destination. I know the *amount* of snow we've gotten here is unusual, but it doesn't look out of place. I'm not used to seeing snow on a beach, though. (I suppose it must snow frequently on northern beaches, though, huh?)
Awesome! My sister-in-law has a place in OC, NJ (site of my the shore shots I posted in the early fall). It is crazy to see all that snow on the boardwalk. Wow!
Note to self: visit Ocean City sometime in the winter.
I only live 10 minutes away and wanted to see how much snow there was. By the time I took these, a fair bit of it had already melted. it was odd to see people cross country skiing down the boardwalk though...lol
It is unusual actually to get that much...2 feet-ish, near the ocean.
I was actually worried about the weigh of all that snow on the boardwalk..
You're right to be concerned! The unusual amount of snow we got here caved in the roof of the local highschool gymnasium. Fortunately, school was canceled due to snow, so nobody was inside when it collapsed.
I am happy to post these picture and rid you of the idea that all beaches are tropical beaches. Now in the summer, I will try to remember to show you a different vision of the same spots, filled with people looking to catch a cool ocean breeze because it is so hot and humid.
In NJ we do it all. snow and blizzards and heat and humidity.
It's been decades since I was down the shore so my memory may be a bit fuzzy, but I can definitely say that I don't remember snow! Seriously though, great shots. I love the light in the last one.
These pics are beautiful!

ReplyDeleteDefinitely different than a Summer's day. Reminds me of Salisbury Beach in Massachusetts.

I've only seen snow on the beach once, many years ago on the California north coast. As far as I'm concerned, it's just not right.
ReplyDeleteNice photos! It almost looks like the Gulf Coast of Florida with their sugar white beaches.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Caite!

Cross country skiing on the boardwalk... wow! I'll have to show these to Chef Jeff. He used to vacation there, when he was a little munchkin.

Wow...these are amazing! Seeing snow at the shore just seems so out of place!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! They might even make me change my mind about all the snow!

I really like these--especially the last shot. Its hard to tell if it is sand or snow. Kaye—the road goes ever ever on

ReplyDeleteWhat lovely, lonely and cold captures of a place that is so lively. Thanks for sharing and thanks for visiting.

Mmmm, super nice. The red on the top is so cheerful. Basically, snow scenes in sunshine rock.
